Vernon Kay admits his daughters and wife Tess Daly ‘shouted’ at him over family issue

Vernon Kay has admitted his daughters, Phoebe and Amber, and wife Tess Daly recently ‘shouted’ at him over a family issue.

The TV presenter, 50, said he even had to apologise after the one-sided matter, as he shared a rare insight into their family life.

Speaking to his listeners on BBC Radio 2, Vernon explained when he feels a bit under the weather, he gets ‘treated like a king’.

But Vernon explained the royal treatment is not really reciprocated when Tess, 55, Phoebe, 19, or Amber, 14, feels poorly.

He said: ‘I’ve got to say that when I am poorly, they treat me like a King my girls, they really do.

‘Sometimes I get shouted at because it’s not reciprocated, I think is the right word.

‘You know, I apologise on a regular basis, so yeah, there you go, they really do look after me.’

It comes after Zoe Ball playfully dubbed Vernon a ‘lucky man’ after he opened up about his morning routine with Tess.

While passing the baton to Vernon for his mid-morning show, the 53-year-old presenter was eager to know what type of morning person he was.

Revealing that he, Tess and his daughters were all early risers, Vernon went on to share why he didn’t need an alarm in the mornings.

Vernon disclosed: ‘My alarm is set for seven, that’s when we all get up.’.

Zoe then probed him on whether he leaps out of bed straightaway to which he confessed it takes a nudge from Tess to shake off his drowsiness.

Spilling on his humorous alarm scenario, he said: ‘I have Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly roll over and go, “It’s time to get up”, with a dig of the elbow, “Come on, get up”‘.

Chuckling, Zoe quipped: ‘Oh, you’re a lucky man! Living the dream Vernon Kay, honestly!’

The couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last year and Tess opened up about the secret behind her long-lasting marriage to Vernon.

In an Instagram Q&A, she revealed: ‘We still sit down for dinner and have so much to talk about, we still have a real laugh.’

‘I see when his name comes up on his phone, I’m like “yay.”‘

She also praised her husband’s fun-loving attitude stating: ‘We have a good laugh, he’s always messing about, dancing and singing in the kitchen. (There’s) never a dull moment.’

During a show earlier this month, Vernon took a trip down memory lane and fondly recalled how we met his beloved wife of 21 years, Tess.

As Britney Spears’ Stronger faded away on the radio, he shared that the couple had starred in a spoof video for the pop icon’s banger Baby One More Time for 2000s music show Top of the Pops@play.

‘It was Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly and I, recreated the video for Britney Spears’ ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’. That’s how we first met,’ Vernon revealed.
