The X-rated act from prized Richmond recruit Sam Lalor that left viewers watching on live TV shocked

  • Sam Lalor was highly impressive in his AFL debut
  • But he did suffer an unfortunate moment on live TV
  • Clearly accidental, guided Tigers to shock win at MCG

The hype is justified when it comes to Richmond young gun Sam Lalor – but the teenager shocked many viewers on Thursday night when celebrating a goal on his AFL debut.

Lalor, 18, booted two majors and finished with 18 disposals against Carlton – and was clearly excited in front of more than 80,000 fans.

In an unfortunate incident, Lalor’s penis briefly popped out of his playing shorts at the MCG at the worst possible moment in the third quarter.

Naturally, the vision wasn’t missed by footy fans watching at home.

‘Showed more than Carlton did,’ one cheekily posted in response, referencing the Tigers shock 13 point win.

‘Oh my god,‘ said another.

Meanwhile, in ominous news for Richmond’s rivals, coach Adem Yze has no doubt the number one pick from the 2024 AFL draft – who is already drawing comparisons to club legend Dustin Martin – will only improve this season.

‘He’s a talented kid and he’ll just get better,’ Yze said in the post game press conference.

‘When the ball’s in his area, he knows how to play, how to win and how to fight.

‘Who would have thought a few weeks ago – he was getting surgery on his jaw, and now he’s having a [first up] win on the MCG.

‘But it is just one step on his journey.’

Commentator Kane Cornes was equally impressed by the maturity of Lalor, as well as the impact of fellow Tigers debutants Luke Trainor and Harry Armstrong.

‘Whatever happens, Richmond have got this guy [Lalor] now, so go and watch him,’ he said.

‘He had five ‘can’t teach that’ moments. A phenomenal debut.’

And in another promising sign for Yze’s men, veteran Tom Lynch finished with a goal and 13 disposals versus the Blues on his long awaited return.

Lynch – a two-time premiership winner at the club – only managed four games last year due to injury.

Richmond will look to chalk up consecutive wins when they next take on Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on March 22.

It comes after some footy experts feared the rebuilding Tigers wouldn’t win a game this season.
