Kirra Dibb and Holly Langford: Footy star’s joy as she gets engaged to her reality TV starlet turned cheerleader girlfriend

The Bachelorette star Brooke Blurton has warmly congratulated her ex-partner, Holly Langford, on her recent engagement to North Queensland Cowboys NRLW captain Kirra Dibb.

Brooke publicly shared her excitement on Instagram, commenting, ‘Omg obsessed with you two, congratulations’ with a love heart emoji.

Langford, widely recognised from her appearance on Brooke’s historic 2021 season of The Bachelorette Australia, recently said yes to Dibb’s proposal, marking another high-profile engagement within the Cowboys community.

The Sydney-based couple have been dating for nearly two years, often managing their relationship long-distance while Dibb is based in Townsville during the NRLW season.

Their love story began quietly through Instagram direct messages after Langford’s brief relationship with fellow Bachelorette contestant Millie Rubio.

Langford’s reality TV journey ended dramatically when she decided to leave the show upon learning that Brooke expected her partner to move to Perth.

Reflecting on that decision, Langford described Brooke’s expectation as a complete ‘curveball,’ noting they had previously discussed only Sydney or Melbourne as potential future homes.

‘In a relationship when you love someone, you grow and you change and you compromise, and with Brooke, I wasn’t quite there yet,’ Langford said.

Dibb and Langford announced their relationship publicly in April 2023, debuting at the Dally M Awards that same year.

They continue to regularly share their life together with followers on social media.

Beyond her TV fame, Langford is an advertising professional, currently balancing her role as a cheerleader for the Manly Sea Eagles and her ambassadorial position with Lululemon.

Her previous cheerleading experience includes the Penrith Panthers in 2019 and Sydney Roosters in 2023.

Dibb’s rugby league career also has connections within Sydney’s clubs, beginning with the Roosters in 2019 before stints with the Warriors and Knights, and finally settling at the Cowboys in 2023.

Dibb quickly established herself as a pivotal player, earning the Cowboys Members Player of the Year award in 2024 due to her impressive on-field performances, including eight try assists, six forced dropouts, and 18 goals kicked at 72 per cent accuracy.

Despite her stellar form, Dibb recently faced a significant setback with an untimely syndesmosis injury, which happened just 24 minutes into the Indigenous All Stars victory over the Maori All Stars.

The injury required surgery, sidelining her for eight to ten weeks and ruling her out of contention for the first two State of Origin games for New South Wales.

Dibb remains optimistic about her recovery, with expectations she will be back on the field in time for the Cowboys’ pre-season training in May.

The couple joyfully announced their engagement on March 7, posting romantic photos of the proposal captioned simply: ’22/2.’

Celebrating their one-year anniversary earlier, Dibb shared a touching tribute to Holly.

‘One whole year of you making me laugh, then me trying to pretend you aren’t funny,’ she posted.

‘[Holly is] everything I’ve ever imagined and more.’
