Who knew they were friends? Packed to the Rafters star Rebecca Gibney hangs out with Married At First Sight bride Jamie Marinos

In an unlikely celebrity encounter, actress Rebecca Gibney has crossed paths with Married at First Sight bride Jamie Marinos – in New Zealand.

The Packed to the Rafters star, 60, posted to her stories on Tuesday with a snap of herself posing with the 28-year-old MAFS favourite.

Jamie, wearing her blonde locks in a bun, can be seen dressed in a smart white jacket and matching white top that showed off her taunt mid-drift.

Rebecca, meanwhile, also looked glamorous in a dark short and matching top.

And from Rebecca’s message to fans it appears that the meet up took place purely  by chance since the pair were staying in the same hotel while Jamie, who is based in Australia, was on a visit to Aotearoa.

‘The people you bump into in the lobby,’ Rebecca said in the caption, adding: (‘And yes she’s a real sweetheart.’)

The New Zealand born actress continued to gush in the post ‘Lovely meeting absolute MAFS favourite.’

While in NZ Jamie has appeared in the media to spill behind-the-scenes secrets about MAFS.

On Tuesday she appeared on radio network ZM to talk about her time on the show with ‘husband’ Dave Hand and Kiwi-born bride Jacqui Burfoot.

During the chat Jamie put paid to the long-standing rumour that MAFS was ‘scripted’.

‘If that is the case, I’m a bloody good actress. Sometimes, I think people like Jacqui and Ryan wish they could say it was scripted, but that was them,’ she said during an appearance on the Fletch, Vaughan and Megan show.

Elsewhere in the interview she said that the often raucous and outrageous dinner parties were not fuelled by alcohol. Producers in fact actively ‘monitor’ the intake of intoxicating beverages.

‘I’m a high-functioning alcoholic because I work in a nightclub,’ she joked.

It comes after Rebecca recently took to her social media to show off her new trimmed down figure.

In her caption alongside the image, the blonde stunner credited her training for Dancing With The Stars for her new look.

‘Dancing – not only great for the soul – I’m fitter than I’ve been in years – but also helpful when donning a swimsuit for the first time this summer’ she wrote.

Rebecca has already been already proving that she’ll be the fan favourite to beat on the upcoming season of the dance contest.

The star sent pulses racing on Wednesday by sharing a behind-the-scenes sneak peak at her dance training for the reality TV competition.

‘Who would have thought I would ever get close to doing the splits again at my age,’ the New Zealand-born actress humbly captioned the candid photo.

In the image, Rebecca appears to be practising a tango with her dance partner Ian Waite, who holds her leg outstretched well above his hip.

Rebecca sold the sultry emotion of the dance as she tucked her head into Ian’s embrace — with only the dancer’s arms around her lithe frame keeping the Logie Hall of Fame member aloft.

She recently freely admitted filming DTWS is ‘the most challenging thing’ she’s ever done.

‘Will I come out of it a pro dancer? No. Has there been tears? Yes. Lots’ she said on social media.

‘But it’s also the most rewarding, amazing thing I’ve ever done,’ Rebecca added.

‘To be learning a new skill and being taught by one of the best in the world who is also such a beautiful human is an experience I will never ever forget. Thank you Ian and DTWS.

‘More shows this week. Let’s gooo.’

Rebecca stays active by walking every morning and doing yoga, and is also a dedicated meditator, saying she ‘wouldn’t survive’ without her daily practice.
