Team GB star ‘lands first TV show following retirement as they join celebrity version of The Traitors’

Team GB star Tom Daley is reportedly set to take the dive into reality TV as he signs up to BBC hit The Traitors. 

According to The Sun, the Olympic diver, 30, is in final talks to join the celebrity version of the fan favourite series.

The sportsman, who retired after the Paris Olympics in the summer, will join host Claudia Winkleman and his fellow celebrity stars as they take to Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands when filming begins in the backstabbing show next year. 

An insider told the publication: ‘He’s always been a top target for reality show bookers, but his team knew he had the pick of the crop.

‘The first series of the celebrity edition blows I’m A Celebrity and Strictly out the water, really, and Tom knows it will be hugely fun to film.

‘He’ll make a great player too, as no one would suspect misdeeds from such a baby-faced lad.’

MailOnline have contacted Tom’s representatives for comment. 

Tom completed his set of Olympic medals when he won silver alongside Noah Williams in the men’s synchronised 10m platform in Paris. 

It was the fifth medal the 30-year-old had won in his five appearances at Games for Team GB, with the first coming at the tender age of 14 in Beijing 18 years ago. 

Calling time on his career back after his Paris win, the father of two told Vogue: ‘It was emotional at the end, up there on the platform, knowing it was going to be my last competitive dive. 

‘But I have to make the decision at some point, and it feels like the right time to call it a day.

‘I’ve spent my whole life doing this and being able to let go of it is going to be hard. It’s going to be a major adjustment.

‘I would love for people to remember me for being a person that persevered, who persisted and didn’t give up on his dream until he was able to achieve it.

‘To currently be Britain’s most decorated diver, I feel so incredibly proud. When I look back, I’m really, genuinely satisfied with what I’ve done.’

According to The Sun, the English broadcaster, 67, was at the top Claudia’s wish list for the BBC One psychological game show. 

Insiders revealed that the comedian was approached to star in the show and ‘confirmed’ that he will be making an appearance. 

A source told The Sun: ‘Claudia put Stephen right at the top of celebs she’d want on The Traitors and Stephen has made it clear he’d be game.’ 

‘Stephen is a fan of the show and Claudia was desperate for him to be in it.’

They added: ‘No contracts have been signed yet — but he told the show’s bosses to name a time and date and he’ll be there.’ 

Others reportedly on Claudia’s wishlist for next year’s series include Only Connect quiz host Victoria Coren Mitchell and actors Adam Woodyatt and Andrew Garfield.
