Tammy Hembrow’s movie star father details the shocking injury that stopped him from walking her down the aisle at her star-studded wedding ceremony in Byron Bay

Tammy Hembrow’s movie star father, Mark Hembrow, has opened up about the heartbreaking injury he suffered just hours before his daughter’s wedding, which prevented him from walking her down the aisle.

The veteran actor, 69, shared a heartfelt photo to Instagram on Sunday, showing him on crutches alongside Tammy and her partner, Matt Zukowski, outside their wedding venue in Byron Bay.

In the caption, Mark revealed that he had torn his ligaments just hours before the ceremony, held on Saturday, November 23.

‘Congratulations to Tammy and Matt. The most wonderful beautiful couple. Blessings to you both on this sacred special day and the rest of your lives,’ he began. 

He expressed his disappointment, adding, ‘I got there! Torn ligament two hours before the wedding. Big disappointment I could not move a step to walk my darling youngest down the aisle to Matt waiting for her. I could not walk up one step.’

Despite his setback, the ANZACS actor was grateful that Tammy’s half-brother, Max, was able to walk her down the aisle in his place.

He expressed his happiness in sharing the joy of the occasion with his daughter and son-in-law. 

‘Thank you Max for walking her down the aisle for me. Love forever Tam. So proud, so moved. So grateful to see you both together. Tears of joy on a magical day.’

Tammy quickly took to the comment section to thank her famous father for the sweet tribute: ‘Love you, Dad’. 

On Tammy’s wedding day last month, Mark was spotted looking pained as he held crutches and attempted to exit his car outside the Chateau Du Soleil venue in Byron Bay.

A source told Daily Mail Australia that Mark, who has appeared in movies with Russell Crowe and Paul Hogan, was unable to walk Tammy down the aisle due to injuring himself shortly before the ceremony. 

The Hembrow patriarch was forced to skip the majority of the nuptials in order to get treatment.

Mark is believed to have booked an early morning appointment with a hairdresser and while there his leg was injured, which caused him to miss most of Tammy’s big day.

The Young Doctors star was forced to get medical treatment and was given crutches, and his injury tragically meant he was unable to be by Tammy’s side as she married Love Island Australia star Matt Zukowski.

Mark is the father of Tammy and her influencer sisters Amy and Emilee, with his ex-wife Nathalie Stanley. 

Tammy and Matt tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Chateau Du Soleil in Byron Bay, surrounded by family and friends.

The influencer looked stunning in a strapless ivory and blush pink gown that featured an elaborate tulle train and a corset bodice, highlighting her ample cleavage.

The blonde beauty completed her look with a long ivory veil and her hair was styled with long hair extensions in a half ponytail with a middle part. 

As the couple held hands, Tammy became emotional and broke down in tears while they exchanged vows and said, ‘I do.’ 

She was supported by her bridesmaids: her sisters Amy, 34, and Emilee, 32, along with her half-sister Ava Olympia and Starlette Thynne.

The four siblings wore matching black strapless satin dresses while holding gorgeous while bouquets, and their hair was styled in neat buns.

Tammy’s daughters Saskia, eight, and Posy, two, were flower girls in adorable pale pink frocks, while her son Wolf, nine, served as a page boy.
