Shirley MacLaine recalls moment she escaped Donald Trump after ‘scary’ interaction with former President
Shirley MacLaine has recalled her ‘scary’ encounter with former president Donald Trump in the 1980s – claiming she was forced to escape his presence.
The 90-year-old actress and author documented their uneasy interaction in her upcoming new photo book The Wall of Life, which is scheduled for release on October 22.
Shirley said she ‘could tell’ that Trump, 78, was undressing her in his mind when they met in the 1980s, and claimed he tried to prevent her from leaving an undisclosed event.
She wrote: ‘Back in probably the 1980s, I interacted with Donald Trump. I was at some function, and when he walked in, he saw me and straightened up.
‘He started pulling at his tie, and I could tell immediately that in his mind he was starting to take off my clothes… and his.

In her memoir, Shirley claimed that Trump began undressing her in his mind during their meeting, leaving her terrified
‘It was scary just how obvious he was being. He even figured out a way to try to stop me from leaving, but I had to get out of there.’
In the 80s, real-estate mogul Trump was fast becoming a famous face making appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show and David Letterman.
By 1982, he made the Forbes List of wealthy individuals thanks to his share of his family’s $200million net worth.
Trump would have been married at the time of meeting Shirley, should her account be correct.
The businessman, who has been accused by multiple woman of sexual misconduct, married his first wife, Ivana Trump, in 1977, with the former couple divorcing in 1991.
He then went onto to wed Marla Maples in 1993, divorcing four years later.
Trump eventually married Melania Knauss in 2005.
Shirley had already become a household name by the 1980s, thanks to prominent performances in the likes of The Turning Point (1977) and Being There (1979).

Her fame went on to reach new heights in 1983 when she won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in the comedy-drama Terms of Endearment.
It is not clear what year Shirley and Trump met.
The actress has dedicated her upcoming book to her ex-husband Steve, who she reveals was a spy.
The pair, who were married from 1954 until their divorce in 1982, famously had an open marriage and multiple affairs.
Recalling the moment Steve confessed, Shirley penned: ‘One evening Steve took me to his favorite restaurant – he grew silent – and I knew he was grappling with his next words.
‘”You must never tell anyone what I’m going to say, but I think you should know.”
‘And then he spoke: “I am undercover with military intelligence… you must promise me your silence.” I did.
‘He told me more about his background and that of his father, which I won’t disclose. A few weeks later we married.’
‘I’m not sure I would say that Steve and I had a happy marriage, but it was a satisfied one,’ she continued.

‘He was gone too much for it to be that happy. He had a mistress in Japan while I had whomever I was with.
‘The first time we really talked about that situation was during my relationship with Robert Mitchum.
‘Steve wanted to know how deeply involved I was, and I wasn’t deeply involved enough to get a divorce.’
Shirley added: ‘I was [the Rat Pack’s] mascot… they protected me (though maybe some of Steve’s friends called and said to look after me because he was an important Intelligence guy.)’
Shirley and Steve welcomed daughter Stephanie Parker in 1956.
Stephanie, who goes by Sachi, previously revealed to Daily Mail in 2013 how her mother bullied her into losing her virginity at 17 — and insisted she tell two waiting sex therapists how it went.
In a column Sachi wrote: ‘For someone who became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars during the hallucinogenic Sixties, my mother was surprisingly naïve about drugs.
‘I remember going to a dinner party with her in the early Sixties, at which the host brought out a bowl of cocaine.
‘As guest of honor, my mother was offered the first dip so she poured two heaped spoonfuls — and I don’t know how many thousands of dollars worth — into her coffee.
‘The collective gasp that followed sucked almost all of the oxygen out of the room.’
