Jose Mourinho went on a hilarious tirade against the referee that sent him off during Fenerbahce’s draw with Manchester United.

Mourinho was sent off by referee Clement Turpin after the hosts saw a penalty appeal turned down in.

The Fenerbahce manager led the Turkish club’s protests against the decision with the score level at 1-1 on the night.

Asked about the incident after the match, the 61-year-old told TNT Sports: ‘I don’t want to speak about it.

‘He told me something incredible. He told me at the same time he could see the action in the box and my behaviour on the touchline.

‘I congratulate him because he’s absolutely incredible. His peripheral vision during the game, 100mph he had one eye on the penalty situation and one eye on the bench and on my behaviour.

‘That’s the explanation he’s given me. That’s why he’s one of the best referees in the world.’

Asked if he’s had the chance to watch back the incident and if he still thought it was a penalty, Mourinho responded: ‘I watched the incident. I don’t speak about the incident’.
