Jodie Comer fans brand getting tickets for her one-woman show Prima Facie ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ as thousands scramble to see her final run of shows

Jodie Comer’s one-woman show Prima Facie was embroiled in a ticketing fiasco as the star prepares to return to the stage with a UK and Ireland tour in 2026.

The Killing Eve actress is taking the multi award-winning play on the road with dates across the country including her hometown of Liverpool.

The actress, 32, took on the role of barrister Tessa in the play in 2022, marking her West End debut and she reprised the role for the Broadway production a year later.

Jodie’s character Tessa has found her speciality defending men accused of sexual assault before her perspective massively shifts when it happens to her.

But many fans hoping to catch the star’s return the multi-award-winning play next year were left bitterly disappointed after general sale tickets kicked off on Thursday.

Theatre-goers complained of being stuck behind tens of thousands of people in endless queues, calling the process ‘impossible’ as the site crashed before tickets sold out in 15 minutes once sales resumed.

One even branded it their ‘worst ticketing experience they’ve ever had, with others lashing out at theatres for the lack of general tickets as they noted that ‘members’ of the theatre had a better chance of bagging the coveted tickets.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter on Thursday, fans were quick to share their anger and frustration at the difficulty in securing tickets.

They penned: ‘Why is getting Prima Facie tickets one of the worst ticketing experiences I’ve ever had.’

‘Public booking was sold out by 10.05. It would appear that unless you are a member/ friend, there is virtually no chance of purchasing tickets . This doesn’t feel very equitable.’

‘Seems like the tens of thousands of people in the line for #primafacie tickets have managed to crash the Liverpool Playhouse’s website Good luck everyone even though it seems like a lost cause at this point.’

‘Trying again to buy a Prima Facie ticket Level: impossible 17 thousands? I’m a bit late’

‘No Prima Facie tickets for me then. Birmingham Rep, this is not ‘limited tickets’, this is zero tickets.’

‘Bring back old fashioned refreshing and good luck for tickets rather than queues with no hope.

‘Apparently, it’s impossible to get #PRIMAFACIE tickets unless you are a member and have access to the pre-sale. Birmingham sold out in under 10 mins. 1500 people in the queue the second tickets went on sale. Disappointing

‘not sure who is responsible (@LivEveryPlay or #primafacie or someone else) but how can you justify offering enough presale tickets to sell out a play before general sale goes live?’

Written by Suzie Miller, Prima Facie follows Tessa has as she finds herself questioning the legal system she has prized for so-long.

The synopsis reads: ‘Tessa is a thoroughbred. A young, brilliant barrister who loves to win.

She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game; prosecuting; cross examining and lighting up the shadows of doubt in any case.

‘An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.’

Speaking ahead of the tour, Jodie previously said: ‘It is a huge privilege to return to Prima Facie for one last time and take this important play on tour across the UK and Ireland. The resonance of Suzie Miller’s writing, both in London and New York, exceeded anything we could have imagined.

‘I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to get the team back together and take the production to theatres around the country, including my hometown of Liverpool.’

Miller added: ‘I couldn’t be more thrilled about the Prima Facie 2026 tour; this play has already achieved more than we all could have dreamed, and Jodie’s commitment to the story reaching so many new venues and communities means more people can be part of the conversation, and the solution.’

Prima Facie’s tour is set to kick off on 24 January at the Richmond Theatre before finishing up in Jodie’s hometown of Liverpool, playing at the city’s Playhouse on 21 March.
