Gigi Hadid supports former stepfather David Foster at opening night of his new Broadway musical

Gigi Hadid showed that she and her former stepfather David Foster still have a positive relationship when she supported his latest musical endeavor over the weekend.

On Saturday, the 29-year-old model revealed that she had attended the opening night performance of the 75-year-old songwriter’s new Broadway show, Boop! The Musical.

The music, which is based on the classic animated character Betty Boop and featured Foster’s music with lyrics by Susan Birkenhead and book by Bob Martin, was clearly a hit with his ex-stepdaughter. 

Gigi — who’s mother Yolanda Hadid was David’s fourth wife — posted a photo from the audience of the Broadhurst Theatre showing Boop!’s star, Jasmine Amy Rogers, descending an onstage staircase with a rose in her hand as she received a standing ovation.

Gigi offered a rave review, writing over her photo: ‘NYC. Boop has landed. And she’s major.’

David, who walked the opening night red carpet with his wife Katharine McPhee Foster, got a second shoutout at the bottom of the post for his musical contributions.

The catwalk star also appeared to have attended the show with the celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta, and she reposted a photo he snapped to her Instagram Stories.

He shared a picture of Boop! The Musical’s Playbill, adding, ‘@gigihadid IM CRYING THIS WAS INCREDIBLE 🤍🤍 🤍.’

In her repost, she jokingly added that they were on a ‘DATE NIGHT 🍷.’

David joined the rest of the show’s creative team and cast for the curtain call, and he could be seen waving jubilantly.

Earlier, he rubbed elbows with the show’s celebrity attendees as he and Katharine walked the red carpet, though Gigi notably opted to skip it in favor of a low-key entrance. 

David and Gigi’s mother Yolanda were in a relationship for five years prior to their 2011 wedding. 

They later announced in 2015 that they were divorcing, and the process was finalized two years later.

David was married to Gigi’s mother Yolanda from 2011 until splitting in 2015, but they had dated for five years before that. Their divorce was finalized in 2017; Yolanda, David and Gigi seen in 2013 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Gigi welcomed her own daughter, four-year-old Khai, in September 2020 with her former partner Zayn Malik. The A-list model has lately been dating Bradley Cooper, who shares a daughter with his ex, model Irina Shayk; seen together in November in NYC

Yolanda shared Gigi, her younger sister Bella and brother Anwar with her ex-husband Mohamed Hadid, and David served as a stepfather to all three. 

Since the split, the families appear to have maintained fairly congenial relationships. 

David, who had previously been married to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer and Linda Thompson, later got engaged to Katharine in 2018 and tied the knot with her the following year. 

In February 2021, they welcomed their first child together, a son, Rennie, now four. 

He became the six of David’s children, including his oldest daughter Allison Jones, 54, who was born when David was 20 and was initially adopted by another couple, though she later reconnected with him and took on a major role at the David Foster Foundation.

His other daughters include Amy S. Foster, 51; Sara Foster, 43; Erin Foster, 40; and Jordan Foster, 37.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Erin previously spoke about how Gigi had kept up a relationship with her former step-siblings.

‘Gigi actually just DMed me last night saying she was starting to watch the show,’ she said, referring to her hit Netflix rom-com Nobody Wants This. ‘The kids don’t get divorced, just the parents do.’
