Elizabeth Olsen has left Marvel fans absolutely devastated after revealing she won’t be reprising her role as the Scarlet Witch in the next two Avengers films.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress, 36, insisted that she would not be in the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
When asked if she was staying in London to work on either of the movies, the star explained she was ‘back [in the States]’ after recently wrapped another film there.
‘I just finished [Panic Carefully]. I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters],’ she told the outlet.
Her claim sparked fury on social media as X users expressed sadness over the idea of her absence while others speculated she may be lying to prevent any spoilers.
One fan even joked they were going to handcuff themselves ‘to the front doors of Marvel headquarters in protest until an apology is issued for their horrible decision making skills.’

Another predicted the movies without her would ‘tank.’
A third, however, tweeted: ”People…she died in the last movie. This isn’t a shock.’
In September, the WandaVision star said she would love Marvel Studios ‘to leave a window open’ for the return of her seemingly dead character.
The Love & Death actress made the confession during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in September.
She was asked by Jimmy, 56, about the status of her character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying: ‘Wanda is as far as we learned in the last Dr. Strange movie dead, right?’
‘I assume as much,’ Elizabeth admitted.
Jimmy reminded Elizabeth that Wanda was crushed by rocks at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
‘Yeah. And there was a red light,’ Elizabeth said. ‘Of explosive energy.’

Jimmy replied: ‘But nobody ever said to you that’s it, it’s the character, it’s dead. That’s the end of the run.’
Before Elizabeth admitted: ‘I think I’m dead’.
Jimmy suggested they could leave a window open in case she’s not dead.
‘I would beg to leave a window open,’ Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth said she has a lot of fun making the Marvel movies and confirmed she didn’t want Wanda to be dead but noted that the writers would have to think of a particularly clever way to bring her back.
But Jimmy reassured the star that if anyone could figure out how to make a surprise comeback it would be Elizabeth’s character.
He said: ‘If any character could figure that out it seems like Wanda would be the character to figure that out.’

‘I think so, too. We need to find the smartest writers to figure out how to make this all make sense,’ Elizabeth agreed.
‘I don’t think anybody is going to have a problem with it if you’re alive,’ Jimmy said as the studio audience cheered along.
Elizabeth last portrayed Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
Her remarks contrasted a past interview, in which she told Variety she doesn’t miss playing the character.
She confessed: ‘No, I don’t. I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her. And I’ve loved it,’ she said.
‘And I think the reason why I am not calling (Marvel president) Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do,’ added Olsen.

The Wind River star also cautioned future Marvel stars against signing multi-picture deals. ‘I say, just give them one. I think that way you have more control,’ she said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
‘It took me away from the physical ability to do certain jobs that I thought were more aligned with the things I enjoyed as an audience member,’ she explained.
She continued: ‘And this is me being the most honest. I started to feel frustrated. I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more part of my being.
‘And the further I got away from that, the less I became considered for it.’
She revealed that one such role she had to turn down was in Yorgos Lanthimos’ 2015 Oscar-nominated film The Lobster.
Despite being previously tied to the Marvel universe, Elizabeth’s repertoire has expanded since her character was killed off and back in May she starred in the A24 romantic comedy Eternity with Miles Teller and Callum Turner, from director David Freyne as well as Netflix hit His Three Daughters alongside Natasha Lyonne.
