Aussie behind jewellery brand sees huge boost in sales after Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester wears her earrings during filming of Stan’s Good Cop/Bad Cop

A mother and daughter duo behind a beloved Australian jewellery brand have seen a massive boost in sales after Leighton Meester wore a pair of their earrings.

Bixby and Co Jewellery founders Annie Haines and her mum Claire were stunned when the Gossip Girl star posted a picture of herself wearing the Dune Pearl Earrings from their collection.

The US actress discovered the small Sydney-based business while filming for her upcoming TV show, Good Cop/Bad Cop, on the Gold Coast.

The new comedic crime drama series, featuring Clancy Brown, Luke Cook and Home & Away actor Scott Lee, will premiere on Stan on February 20.

The wife of Adam Brody sparked a shopping frenzy after the co-founder of Bixby and Co shared a picture on social media showing the star wearing her earrings.

‘I was squealing,’ Annie said.

‘Definitely the highlight of my Bixby career.’

The Dune Pearl Earrings ($75) are one of the brand’s best-selling jewellery pieces.

Leighton wearing the earrings was actually a stroke of luck, as Annie’s actor husband Scott was starring alongside the actress while Luke’s wife was the stylist of the show.

The stylist asked the brand to loan some items for Leighton to wear.

The A-lister loved the earrings so much she took them home with her.

Leighton’s character plays one half of a brother-and-sister detective duo, alongside Luke Cook.

The siblings work together as detectives in a small town, navigating quirky locals, limited resources, their strained relationship and their father, who’s the police chief in the comedic crime procedural.

Annie and her English mum Claire started Bixby and Co in a Bondi studio in 2022 after discovering a gap in the market for luxe jewellery at affordable prices.

The idea to start a business together came to mind after the duo spent three years apart.

‘Like a lot of other families we ended up being apart over Covid. I was in Europe and Annie was here in Sydney,’ Claire said.

‘When I came back to Australia in December 2021 we were so excited to be back in the same country together and decided to begin working on something special to us – a passion project and business that would mean we could spend every moment we could making up for lost time.

‘While rummaging through heirloom pieces in our jewellery boxes and wondering why people don’t wear more colour, Bixby and Co was born.’

The mother and daughter have now been in business for two years.

‘We are constantly striving to be better and do better,’ Claire said.

‘Our mission for 2025 is to work solely with a manufacturer who aligns with our vision and who can bring our own designs to life in a sustainable and quality assured way.’

Bixby and Co use a variety of gold styles to curate a great mixture of 18k Gold filled fun and colourful gemstone jewellery, or everyday luxe 14k Gold Vermeil staples for everyday office styles.
