And the award goes to… Ozempic! After the skinniest Oscars ever – all of the stars who’ve credited weight loss drugs for slimming down (and those who insist they haven’t touched it!)

Weight-loss jabs such as Ozempic have been a hot topic in Hollywood in recent years, with hoards of celebrities debuting strikingly slimmed-down looks.
From the likes of Kathy Bates and Sharon Osbourne to Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey, there are a number of stars who have credited the drug for their weight loss.
The recent awards season showcased swathes of size zero stars, many of whom have remained tight-lipped as to how they shed the pounds.
A new trend emerged which reportedly saw stars microdosing or taking tiny amounts of Ozempic and other GLP-1 weight-loss jabs like Mounjaro, Wegovy or Zepbound to effortlessly attain that Awards-night silhouette.
However some celebs are insistent they haven’t touched the jab, with Selena Gomez one of the stars who has been swept up in the weight loss jab rumours.
Elsewhere, unlike her mother, Kelly Osbourne has sworn her 85lb postpartum weight loss was achieved by cutting out carbs and sugar – not weight loss drugs.
Meanwhile Christina Aguilera has swerved commenting on her rapid sizing down despite rampant fan speculation.

Selena Gomez
Selena has recently found herself at the centre of weight loss jab rumours after she unveiled a noticeably slimmer appearance this awards season.
Selena, a champion of self-love and body positivity, opted for an Old Hollywood glamour look in a Ralph Lauren champagne gown that showed off her svelte physique on Sunday.
It led fans to question the change in her appearance since last year’s awards season, however the singer-actress has spoken about how her lupus medication is responsible for her weight fluctuations.
However, the actress has been candid that her lupus medication alongside an intestinal illness called SIBO is responsible for her weight fluctuations.
After viewing a since-deleted TikTok video in November 2024 that scrutinised her appearance, Selena commented: ‘This makes me sick. I have SEBO in my small intestine. It flares up.’
‘I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.’
SIBO stands for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, which happens when ‘the passage of food and waste products in the digestive tract’ slows, ‘creating a breeding ground for bacteria,’ per the Mayo Clinic.
The condition is usually caused by ‘surgery or disease,’ the clinic said, as ‘symptoms include bloating, stomach pain, and malnutrition.’
In 2023, she also revealed that her lupus medication causes her weight to fluctuate.
At the time, the Disney Channel alum explained that she tends to ‘hold a lot of water weight’ due to several medications she takes and also encouraged fans to practice self-love even in moments of feeling shame.

Kathy Bates
Actress Kathy Bates stunned attendees at the Golden Globes in January of this year with her slimmed-down figure.
She has been open about her weight loss journey, which was helped by weekly Ozempic shots, and is one of the few celebrities who has admitted to using the medicine.
Kathy dropped 80 pounds over the last seven years, which she achieved by changing what she ate and her overall lifestyle – before losing an additional 20lbs after using Ozempic.
‘There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic,’ she told the publication. ‘But I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.’
She revealed she really started making improvements in her health after receiving a diagnosis for type 2 diabetes seven years ago.

Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey
Fans were amazed to see Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg looking trimmer than ever at the Oscars on Sunday as they reunited onstage 40 years after starring together in The Color Purple.
Whoopi previously revealed she used weight loss medication Mounjaro after hitting 300 Lbs.
Last year Whoopi spoke openly about taking the controversial weight-loss drug in order to slim down.
The Ghost star told her fellow panelists on The View that she turned to the medication after her weight soared to 300 pounds while she was filming the movie Till in 2021.
She revealed that she had herself turned to medication as a last resort in her weight loss journey, having tried a number of other methods to help her slim down.
‘I will tell you, you know, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I made Till.
‘I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff and one of the things that has helped me drop the weight is the Mounjaro… That’s what I use.’
Whoopi also called on people to ‘stop judging everybody’ over their appearance.
‘Maybe that’s the key. Because, listen, when I realized how much I had put on, because… I always felt like me. And then I saw me and I thought, “Oh, that’s a lot of me,”‘ she quipped.

Meanwhile in 2023, Oprah finally admitted to using an undisclosed GLP-1 — a type 2 diabetes medication that can also aid in weight loss — to shed nearly 50 pounds after decades of yo-yo dieting.
Ozempic, Wegovy and other GLP-1 medications can help eradicate food noise — which often leads to overeating and weight gain — by reducing cravings and slowing down digestion.
The star has revealed that this ‘food noise’ – the term for the constant, intrusive thoughts about eating – was what drove her to overeat and only feel satisfied after she was full.
In an episode of The Oprah Podcast she said: ‘One of the things that I realized the very first time I took a GLP-1 was that all these years I thought that thin people just had more willpower, they ate better foods, they were able to stick to it longer, they never had a potato chip.
‘And then I realised the very first time I took the GLP-1 that, “Oh, they’re not even thinking about it.” They’re only eating when they’re hungry, and they’re stopping when they’re full.’
She also told People Magazine: ‘The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.
‘I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself.’

Rebel Wilson
After much speculation, Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson – whose character was known as Fat Amy – finally confessed to having used Ozempic to help her shed 80lbs during her ‘year of health’ back in 2020.
The Australian – who’s no longer taking the semaglutide injectable – admitted to The Sunday Times: ‘Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good.’
Rebel (born Melanie Bownds) previously claimed to have successfully reached her 165lb goal weight through high-intensity interval workouts with fitness trainer Jono Castano Acero, long hikes, and a high-protein/low-sugar diet.
In the past four years, she has admitted to gaining some of it back including 20lbs from ‘stress eating’ leading up to the release of her upcoming memoir Rebel Rising.
‘I feel strongly that young women shouldn’t try to obsess over looking like Victoria’s Secret models — they should just look like themselves,’ Wilson – who’s an ’emotional eater’ – said.
‘I know that my relationship with food is complicated.’
Rebel – whose polycystic ovarian syndrome affects fertility – originally decided to slim down at the urging of her IVF doctor in 2019.
‘Basically no one apart from my mom wanted me to lose weight,’ Wilson recalled.
‘People thought I’d lose my pigeonhole in my career, playing the fat funny character, and they wanted me to continue in that.’

Sharon Osbourne
Sharon Osbourne is another star who has been open about using Ozempic, after claiming she once weighed 230lb.
But the music manager revealed she has since struggled to put weight back on after shedding the pounds using the drug.
She shocked the public in March 2024 after she made her return to UK reality TV on Celebrity Big Brother, where she was reunited with former X Factor colleague Louis Walsh.
The star couldn’t hide her weight loss on the show as she revealed doctors ‘can’t figure out’ why she hasn’t been able to gain weight back after she stopped using Ozempic months ago.
‘The doctors can’t figure it out,’ she said. ‘But I think it’s just because I’m getting older and as you get older you lose weight anyway and shrink and shrivel off.’
Speaking on Loose Women last year, she added: ‘I don’t regret it. Everything with weight with me was, “I want it now.” The injections that I was on worked, but it just seems that now I can’t put anything on really.’
Sharon added: ‘I lost over 40lbs, If I could I would put back another 10.’

Kelly Osbourne
But most stars rumoured to be taking semaglutide, which mimics a hormone in the body that signals the brain to stop eating, have either been clear they have not used the medication or simply ignored them.
Sharon’s daughter Kelly being one of them, after pictures emerged of the star looking strikingly thin.
Kelly has been open about her 85lb postpartum weight loss but has been clear she has not used Ozempic to help her shed the weight.
‘I just have to clarify, I’ve never taken Ozempic,’ she told People regarding rumours she had turned to the mediation.
‘I don’t know what Ozempic does to you other than what I saw it do to my mum,’ she said. ‘I think that it is the miracle drug in the right hands.’
She revealed she ‘rapidly’ lost the weight by cutting out ‘sugar and carbohydrates’ and not by using Hollywood’s favorite weight-loss drug.
Kelly first addressed her weight loss in April last year, when she revealed she ‘doesn’t know where it came from’ that she had used Ozempic.
She told Extra: ‘I know everybody thinks I took Ozempic. I did not take Ozempic. I don’t know where that came from. My mum took Ozempic.’

Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera has recently returned to the spotlight with a dramatically slimmer look also.
Fans speculated about the hitmaker using Ozempic in May, following a performance in Mexico where she appeared to have ‘travelled through time’ to go back to her slimmer self.
Christina has struggled with a fluctuating waistline over the years and decided to work to lose 40lbs after the birth of her son Max, now 15, by following a 1,600-calorie-per-day diet.
She has now given up on dieting completely and instead revealed in an interview with L:’Officiel Italia in 2020 that she focuses on eating clean.
Although she has not directly responded to the claims she has achieved the look with weight-loss jabs, Christina recently remarked that she no longer feels the need to ‘give a f***’ about the public scrutiny on her body.
