Fogarty threads the needle to get Crows away
Darcy Fogarty wins a free kick after Wil Powell was draped all over him as the Crows sent the ball inside 50.
That was sheer panic from Powell, and Fogarty drills the set shot from an acute angle. Geez, he’s a good kick of the footy isn’t he?
Fogarty now operating at almost 60 per cent efficiency on set shots throughout the course of his career.
Crows have definitely settled in the last five minutes.
Suns leading the territory battle early
It’s been a strong start from the Suns, who are forcing repeat forward 50 entries courtesy of forcing forward-half turnovers.
The Suns lead the inside 50 count 7-3, and should be ahead by more than two goals after missing a pair of relatively easy set shots.
Crows slowly working themselves into this match after withstanding the early barrage.
Read goals as Suns continue early dominance
Ethan Read has Gold Coast’s second goal in the space of five minutes after a terrific contested mark.
It was a lovely left-footed kick on the wing from Matt Rowell in the lead-up that opened things up for the Suns.
Rowell, who has been arguably the best player in the AFL so far this season, is off to a fast start.
He’s already got three disposals and a clearance. Suns holding a 4-2 lead in the clearances early on.
King gets the Suns on the board after umpire’s ‘big error’
Ben King has the first goal of the afternoon, but there’s a bit of controversy in the lead-up.
Matt Rowell won a free kick 75m out from goal, but the umpire allowed Connor Budarick to take the kick instead despite blowing the whistle, and he found King inside 50.
“It’s a big error early in this game,” says Brad Johnson on Fox Footy’s coverage.
Play underway as the Suns take on Crows
We’re off and running in what is perhaps the most anticipated clash of round four!
Izak Rankine in the middle of the ground for the Crows against his old side.
All the usual big guns in at the centre bounce for the Suns, Rowell, Anderson and co.
Team news: No late changes for Suns or Crows
Both Gold Coast and Adelaide will line up as originally selected.
Jake Rogers is the Suns sub, while Luke Nankervis is the Crows sub, meaning we get a full Sid Draper match, finally!
Here’s a look at the two team line-ups.
