Girl boss! Leggy Nicole Kidman looks chic in a power suit as she is crowned one of TIME’s Women of the Year and reveals why Baz Lurhmann made her ‘swoon’

Nicole Kidman has been crowned as one of TIME’s Women of the Year – and she certainly dressed the part on Tuesday.

The Australian actress, 57, attended the publication’s annual Leadership Forum at the West Hollywood EDITION and exuded ‘girl boss’ in power suit featuring a pleated skirt.

Nicole commanded the stage in a pleated, midi-length skirt, which she paired with a white button-up shirt and a navy blue blazer that complimented her piercing blue eyes.

The Babygirl actress accessorised the ensemble with silver hoop earrings, stacked rings and a pair of black strappy heels, which accentuated her long supermodel legs.

She sported a bouncy blowout and dewy makeup look as she spoke onstage with effortless charm.

Nicole then took time to pose with a number of prominent figures at the event, including Time Magazine’s Senior Editor Lucy Feldman, the publication’s CEO Jessica Sibley, the CEO of OpenTable Debby Soo and fellow actress Sophia Bush.

Earlier, in an interview posted on Instagram by Time Magazine, the actress revealed how director and fellow Aussie Baz Luhrmann made her ‘swoon’ years ago.

‘I was doing a play on Broadway Blue Room and he sent me, in very Baz style, in a box, two dozen long-stemmed red roses and said “Will you be my Satine?”‘ referring to her leading role in Luhrmann’s spectacular musical Moulin Rouge.

‘It’s like, “Woo! Swoon”.’

Nicole went on to work with Luhrmann multiple times, including in Moulin Rouge in 2001, Australia in 2008 and Faraway Downs.

Later on in the interview, the actress confessed to feeling frightened when she found herself unable to breastfeed after giving birth.

The movie star and her country singer husband Keith Urban share two daughters – Sunday Rose, 16, whom Nicole carried herself, and Faith Margaret, 14, who was born via surrogacy.

She and her first husband Tom Cruise are also the adoptive parents of two grown children called Bella, 32, and Connor, 30.

In the interview, Nicole bared her soul about the shock medical development she found herself experiencing after she welcomed Sunday into the world.

When she discovered she could not breastfeed, she was so terrified, asking, What just happened? Where’s my milk?’ she told Time magazine.

‘I remember standing naked in the shower, and my sister helped me. She was my source of strength. She’d had five children – she had the wisdom to pass on.’

Nicole appeared on the cover of the magazine, gazing with purpose off into the distance while being profiled as one of Time’s Women Of The Year.

She gave birth to Sunday Rose in Nashville in 2008, two years after she tied the knot with Keith following a year of dating.

The couple welcomed Faith Margaret via surrogacy at the end of 2010, publicly expressing their ‘incredible gratitude’ to their ‘gestational carrier.’

Sunday has decided to enter the modeling industry, making her runway debut last year at the Miu Miu show at Paris Fashion Week.

Nicole did not attend the catwalk show itself, but was seen posing lovingly with her daughter during the brand’s afterparty that evening.

Shortly after the show, a source exclusively informed DailyMail.com that Nicole was upset by the criticism leveled at her daughter online.

After Sunday walked for Miu Miu, she was roundly roasted online for her severe expression and ‘stomping’ gait, and for being a ‘nepo baby’.

‘Nicole was the same age as Sunday when she landed her first acting role and she was told back then to try something else,’ the insider pointed out.

‘Nicole faced “no’s” without having famous parents to shoe her in the door so she understands the criticism but it also upsets her because she is reminded of the hell she went through when she got her start,’ the source continued.

‘Ultimately, Nicole and Keith are so proud of her and they are letting her forge her own path. Her advice to her daughter was the same advice she gives herself – do not read social media. She will support her in whatever path she chooses.’
