Another year means another slate of MCU films and to kick things off is ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.
With Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passing on the legacy and responsibility of Captain America to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), it is now his mission to prove himself as the new Cap and protect his country and the world from threats on the horizon.
Some of the qualities that Captain America brings to the big screen is his determination and epic heroic moments. There are plenty of moments like that within this film and it was great to see Sam Wilson fill the boots of Steve Rogers and really cement himself as this generation’s Captain America.
Harrison Ford as President Ross/Red Hulk was an absolute stand out. Many fans questioned how Ford would perform in a Marvel film and it’s safe to say he did a fantastic job. He has many moments on screen that will surprise fans and remind everyone why he’s one of the greats.
There isn’t a whole lot of screen time for Red Hulk but the time we do get with him is action packed and well executed. Many fans were conflicted about the look of Red Hulk and the special effects that came along with him but it’s safe to say that he looked great on screen and it was very enjoyable seeing a Hulked out Harrison Ford.
A lot of the action is very entertaining. There’s a great amount of choreography in fight scenes that are very impressive and some of the cinematography around these scenes is very creative at times.
One thing that was prominent and maybe not ideal was that the film felt like more of a sequel to ‘The Incredible Hulk’ (2008). In many aspects of the film, it is a sequel but at times it can take away from this being a Captain America story.
Overall ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is an entertaining film that is bound to leave Marvel fans and cinema audiences impressed while they’re watching it but the film does fall short in some aspects.
