Davante Adams ‘is joining the New York Jets’ with Las Vegas Raiders WR set to reunite with Aaron Rodgers

The Las Vegas Raiders are finalizing a trade that will send Davante Adams to the New York Jets, according to reports.

Adams’ NFL future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months amid his desire to leave Las Vegas, where he spent the last two seasons.

Despite several teams circling, the three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl receiver’s preference has always been to reunite with good friend and former teammate Aaron Rodgers in New York.

And according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, that reunion is finally set to become a reality.

The Raiders are reportedly set to acquire a conditional third-round draft pick – which could become a second-rounder based on performance – from the Jets in return for Adams.

As his move nears completion, the 31-year-old is already in the Jets building the morning after their 23-20 defeat to the Buffalo Bills, reports The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

He previously spent eight seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay, where they formed a close relationship on and off the field despite failing to make a Super Bowl together.

It is believed the legendary quarterback played a key role in the Jets trading for Adams, who is joining a team in disarray after three straight defeats and the firing of head coach Robert Saleh.

So far this season, he has 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown in three games for the Raiders. He is currently nursing a nagging hamstring injury that caused him to sit out the last three weeks.

However, after Rodgers appeared to take a thinly-veiled swipe at current wideout Mike Williams after the loss to the Bills, the coast appears clear for Adams to slot straight into the Jets offense.

Williams, who suffered a concussion in the game, has struggled to get on the same page this season with the quarterback.

Rodgers accused him of running the wrong route on Monday night, telling reporters: ‘It’s two vertical [routes]. Allen [Lazard] is down the seam and Mike is down the red line.

‘I’m looking at Allen, he puts his hand up and three guys go with him. So I’m throwing a no-look to the red line. And when I peek my eyes back there, [Williams] is running an in-breaker. He’s got to be on the red line. It’s the little things every single time.’

Adams immediately boosts a Jets offense that has been inconsistent through the first part of the season. He joins Garrett Wilson to give Rodgers two No. 1-caliber wide receivers to throw to, complementing the likes of Williams, Lazard and Xavier Gipson, tight end Tyler Conklin and running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen.
